Amenti Sujai, Ph.D.

Dr. Amenti Sujai is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Healing Tree: Wellness Resources for Spiritual Care Leaders, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring the inner lives of those who devote themselves to the care of others. Through speaking, restorative wellness experiences, and reflective learning, she helps spiritual care leaders heal from the personal and professional challenges that often accompany a life of service.

Dr. Sujai's work is grounded in a simple conviction: those who care for the souls and spirits of others deserve compassionate care for their own. Her presentations explore the emotional, spiritual, and relational realities that many spiritual care leaders experience, including rejection, misunderstanding, institutional disappointment, compassion fatigue, and the ongoing work of remaining faithful to one's calling without allowing painful experiences to close the heart.

A respected educator and scholar, Dr. Sujai serves as Associate Professor of Church History at Dickerson-Green Theological Seminary. She previously served as Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at Claflin University. Her academic work reflects a lifelong interest in the relationship between history, spirituality, psychology, and human flourishing.

Dr. Sujai earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Southern Illinois University, a Master of Theological Studies from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Religious and Theological Studies from Northwestern University, where her scholarship focused on church history and the psychology of religion.
